Municipal ward by-elections will take place in five provinces, namely Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, North West and the Western Cape on Wednesday, 7 August 2013.
A total of 21 wards will be contested. Voting will take place in 99 voting districts in the following wards:
Eastern Cape:

Ward 6 in Inxuba Yethemba [Cradock] Municipality – EC131 with 3 463 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor. -
Ward 15 in Engcobo [Engcobo] Municipality – EC137 with 3 950 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the death of the councillor.
KwaZulu-Natal:

Ward 22 in Abaqulusi [Vryheid] Municipality – KZN with 4 633 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor. -
Ward 11 in Maphumulo [Maphumulo] Municipality – KZN294 with 4 055 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the death of the councillor.
Mpumalanga:

Ward 15 in Albert Luthuli [Elukwatini/Carolina] Municipality – MP301 with 3 600 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the death of the councillor.
North West:

Ward 19 in Rustenburg [Rustenburg] Municipality – NW373 with 8 668 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor

Ward 14 in Ratlou [Setlagole] Municipality – NW381 with 3 597 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the death of the councillor. -
Ward 4 in Mafikeng [Mafikeng] Municipality – NW383 with 3 570 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor. -
Ward 12 in Mafikeng [Mafikeng] Municipality – NW383 with 4 483 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor. -
Ward 20 in Ditsobotla [Lichtenburg] Municipality – NW384 with 2 169 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor. -
Ward 12 in Ramotshere Moiloa [Zeerust] Municipality – NW385 with 3 247 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor. -
Ward 14 in Ramotshere Moiloa [Zeerust] Municipality – NW385 with 3 294 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor. -
Ward 4 in NW397-NW397 Local Municipality [Ganyesa/Pomfret] with 3 350 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor. -
Ward 9 in Tlokwe [Potchefstroom] Municipality – NW402 with 3 606 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor.
Western Cape:
Ward 5 in Bergrivier [Velddrif] Municipality – WC013 with 3 805 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the Democratic Alliance and became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor.

Ward 3 in Overstrand [Greater Hermanus] Municipality – WC032 with 3 381 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the Democratic Alliance and became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor. -
Ward 1 in George [George] Municipality – WC044 with 4 371 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the Democratic Alliance and became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor. -
Ward 5 in Oudtshoorn [Oudtshoorn] Municipality – WC045 with 3 311 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the termination of the councillor’s membership by the party. -
Ward 6 in Oudtshoorn [Oudtshoorn] Municipality – WC045 with 5 415 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the termination of the councillor’s membership by the party. -
Ward 13 in Oudtshoorn [Oudtshoorn] Municipality – WC045 with 3 246 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the termination of the councillor’s membership by the party. -
Ward 4 in Bitou [Greater Plettenberg Bay] Municipality – WC047 with 3 776 registered voters. The ward was previously represented by the African National Congress and became vacant as a result of the resignation of the councillor.
