Three men accused of defrauding Compensation Fund to plead

Three men accused of allegedly defrauding the Department of Labour’s Compensation Fund (CF) will appear in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crime Court on July 26.

The three accused: Maxwell Ramaphosa, Samuel Mfeleng and Jurry Sehunoe are expected to plead. The other three fellows accused had their charges withdrawn due to lack of evidence.

The men are out on a bail of R3000 each. The accused face 22 counts of fraud valued at more than R3,8 million and 28 counts of money laundering amounting to more than R860 000.

The Compensation Fund is a business entity of the Department of Labour. It covers  occupational injuries or diseases sustained or contracted by employees during the course of their employment. The CF also covers death resulting from such injuries or diseases, and related matters during occupation.
