Ten licensing offices open over weekends

In the spirit of Operation Hlasela and Transport Month, the MEC for Police, Roads and Transport, Mr Thabo Manyoni, announced that major testing stations and registering authorities in the Free State province will be open over the weekends as from this Saturday, 9 October 2010 to render selected services, namely:

  • registering of motor vehicles
  • renewing of motor vehicle licences
  • issuing of special and temporary permits, and customers can collect driving licence cards.

Business hours will be from 07:00 to 17:00 on Saturdays and 07:00 to 13:00 on Sundays. Unfortunately no services will be available on public holidays.

This will apply at the Bloemfontein Lengau Testing Centre and Heilbron Driving Licences and Testing Centre and the Registering Authorities in Bethlehem, Botshabelo, Harrismith, Kroonstad, Phuthaditjaba, Rouxville, Virginia and Welkom.

The service will run until 31 March 2011 after which it might be extended.

The public can call the 24/7 open toll-free number 0800 72 73 74 if they experience any service related problem or want to complain about the service delivery of the South African Police Service in the province. Compliments for exceptional service delivery by officials and officers of the department may also be reported through this line.
