The Department of Tourism, in conjunction with the Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environment Affairs (DESTEA) have partnered with the Central University of Technology (CUT) to host the Minister’s Annual Tourism Month Public Lecture in the Free State.
The purpose of the Public Lecture is to exchange and share ideas on tourism development with the academic fraternity and industry stakeholders with a view of enhancing strategies, planning, programmes and policies within the sector. The focus of the lecture is aligned to the UNWTO 2016 World Tourism Day theme “Tourism for All - Promoting Universal Accessibility.
The Department, DESTEA and its marketing agency, the Free State Tourism Authority (FSTA), will also host the World Tourism Day (WTD) celebrations under the theme – "Tourism for All – Promoting Universal Access."
World Tourism Day (WTD) is an annual United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) event that is celebrated on the 27th of September throughout the world. Its purpose is to foster awareness among communities about the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value.
