Women in agriculture encouraged to enter awards

The achievements of women in agriculture will be celebrated at the Female Entrepreneur Awards.

Entries for the Awards close on 31 May 2017. With just a week to go until the closing date, Agriculture Minister Alan Winde encouraged women of the Western Cape operating in the sector to put their entries forward, and to make our province proud.

An initiative of the National Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Awards are hosted in partnership with provincial departments of agriculture.

Said Winde: “The Western Cape provincial winners consistently perform well at the national event. Once again, I am looking forward to celebrating the success of women in our provincial agriculture sector. I wish every entrant well.”

Entries are open in the following categories:  

  • Best Female Worker in the Sector
  • Best Subsistence Producer in the Sector
  • Top Entrepreneur in the Sector: Smallholder
  • Top Entrepreneur in the Sector: Processing
  • Top Entrepreneur in the Sector: Commercial
  • Top Entrepreneur in the Sector: Export Markets

The provincial winners will be announced on 10 August 2017. They will be entered into the national competition, which takes place in Mpumalanga on 24 August 2017.
