Today, to mark International Foetal Alcohol Syndrome Day (FASD), Minister Albert Fritz and Minister Nomafrench Mbombo will join Khayelitsha residents at the local Maternal Obstetrics Unit, to address expectant mothers and the broader community on the dangers of alcohol use during pregnancy.
FASD is fully preventable, yet it continues to be a serious health issue in the Western Cape due to women continuing to consume alcohol during their pregnancy. Children with FASD have physical abnormalities, neurological problems, behavioural and learning problems.
There will be opportunities for interviews and photographs.
