Water and Sanitation on restored water supply

Water supply restored in Agisang and Sannieshof, North West; support continues in Kroonstad

Water outages that frustrated residents Agisang and Sannieshof in the North West over the past weekend have been resolved and water supply is now fully restored. The pumping of water had stopped as a result of a shortage of diesel and an operator not reporting for duty. The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) restored the water supply and everyone started receiving water as of Friday, 5 August 2016.

Meanwhile, the pollution which posed a threat in Wolmaranstad and Vals rivers in Bothaville has also been cleaned up and the rivers remain potential sources for other interventions in areas of North West.

In the area of Kroonstad in the Free State, the 14 boreholes are still operational, pumping water into the network.  Additionally the 24 water tankers in the area continue to provide support.

The DWS will continue to render support to municipalities in need and ensure that service delivery continues.
