Water and Sanitation on Limpopo dam levels

Limpopo dam levels have slightly dropped

A weekly report on dam levels issued by the Department of Water and Sanitation in Limpopo has shown a slight drop of the province’s dam levels from last week’s 87,2% to 86,9% this week. During a similar period last year, the province’s overall storage capacity stood at 81,9%.

This marginal drop means that the available water in the province as of this week is at 1286 cubic metres out of a full capacity of 1480 cubic metres.

The Polokwane Water Supply System with dams supplying water to Polokwane and surrounding areas is currently at 100,1%, a slight decrease from last week’s 100,3%. This is, however, a great improvement compared to last year at this time when the system stood at 86,2%.

Several Dams remained same. These includes, Tonteldoos Dam at 100,3% this week and last week. De Hoop Dam was at 100,1% last week and this week. Flag Boshielo Dam also remained the same, it was 100,6% last week and this week. Mokolo Dam also experienced no movement, with 100,5% last week and this week.

Despite the slight overall drop, Vergelegen Dam improved from last week’s 96,1% to this week’s 97,7%. Nandoni and Mutshedzi Dams also saw improvements, from last week’s 100,8% to this week’s 100,9% and last week’s 100,9% to this week’s 101% respectively.
