Visit to the Gender-Based Violence Command Centre
Join officials from the Department of Social Development as they present the Department’s Gender-Based Violence Command Centre (GBVCC) to a delegation from Lesotho on 26 September 2019 from 10am.
The delegation will be touring the GBVCC to learn about its services as the country is considering adopting a similar model to assist victims of gender-based violence.
The GBVCC was launched by the Department of Social Development in November 2013 and provides immediate care, support and counselling to victims of violence. Through advanced technology, staff is able to determine the location of the victim and the centre is linked to other Government departments and services.
The GBV Command Centre has numerous local and international accolades for its services. These include:
- Two service awards in the Innovation Award category at the Contact Centre Management Group Awards
- Changing Lives Award from the Africom Awards
- Best Technology Innovation – Small Centre of the World at the Global Best Contact Centre Awards
