Unqualified audit bodes well for Health Department
The Gauteng MEC for Health, Ms Qedani Mahlangu is delighted that the department has received an unqualified report for the 2015/16 financial term from the Auditor General. She attributed the attainment of this audit outcome to many interventions put in place which include better financial management that has contributed to adverse findings previously.
One of the interventions introduced by the department was the introduction of lean management in all facilities and the partnership with South African Institute of Charted Accountants which dispatched Charted Accountants to facilities to assist facility managers.
The Department also strengthened the functioning of its governance structures with regards to risk management and integrity management and rolled these out at the institutional level and coupled this with a strong political will to succeed.
“We are determined to improve and elevate ourselves to a clean audit outcome in the near future. Achieving this audit outcome would not be possible without the officials. We extend our gratitude to all employees of the department and thank them for their commitment and hard work.”
