The Minister of Transport Ms. Dipuo Peters will lead deliberations and discussions during a National Road Safety Strategy Engagement and Development Summit that will be held on Saturday, 12 March 2016 at Gallagher Estate, Midrand.
The Summit seeks to mobilise all stakeholders to improve the country’s road safety record in line with the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011 – 2020 Campaign to reduce road fatalities by 50%.
Road safety has become an issue that is critical to the country’s economy and society at large, hence the need for decisive policies and strategies to address the problem.
The Summit will attract stakeholders from across non-governmental, community and faith-based institutuions to youth formations, the tourist sector, public and private transport operators, the legal fratenity and members of society in the broadest terms.
Minister Peters will be joined during the Summit by Deputy Minister of Transport Ms. Sindisiwe Chikunga, Transport MECs, CEOs of roads State Owned Companies and senior government officials.
