Presidential launch of peoples’ trains for South Africans
His Excellency, President Jacob Zuma and the National Minister of Transport Mr. Joe Maswanganyi cordially invite media to witness the official launch of the new, state-of-the-art Metrorail (Peoples’) trains.
The Peoples’ trains form an important part of the fulfillment of a promise made by the President in 2012 after using various modes to get a sense of the state of public transport in the Republic.
At the time, the President made a promise that the rail system in the country would be significantly improved.
The new Metrorail (Peoples’) trains are part of the new fleet that will be rolled out by government over the next 10 to 15 years as part of PRAS’s Mordernisation Programme, creating an affordable, accessible, safe and reliable transport system in the country.
