Deputy Minister Pamela Tshwete hands over Swellendam Waste Water Treatment Works, 8 Jul

The Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation (DWS) Mrs. Pamela Tshwete will hand over the Swellendam Waste Water Treatment Works on 8 July 2016 at Railton Community Sports Field, in Swellendam.

The upgrading of the Swellendam Waste Water Treatment Works was necessary to ensure the increase of effluent treatment capacity of Swellendam and increase the existing treated effluent quality to meet the requirements of the department. 

The plant will provide wastewater treatment to address a backlog of serving more than 20 000 people from both Swellendam and Railton and cater for future growth.

The day’s programme will be in two phases:

Phase One: Site visit to the Waste Water Treatment Works and doorstop/photo opportunity with the media. The Deputy Minister will officially cut the ribbon at the Works between 09h30 and 10h00.

Phase Two: Deputy Minister will address the community at Railton Community Sports field in Swellendam at 11h30.
