MECs Donald Grant and Nomafrench Mbombo visit local soapie Suidooster, 19 Aug

MECs Grant and Mbombo to visit set of popular local soapie Suidooster following successful road safety partnership

Tomorrow, Friday, 19 August 2016, Western Cape MECs of Transport and Public Works and Health, Mr Donald Grant and Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, will be visiting the Cape Town set of the popular Afrikaans television soapie, Suidooster. The visit will mark the successful conclusion of an innovative road safety awareness initiative which was conducted by Safely Home in partnership with the local production. The campaign highlighted the well-known dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI).

The MECs will meet with the production team that formed part of this initiative, and share details around the partnership and the important role played by Suidooster in raising awareness for such an important issue. The MECs will also be taken on a guided tour of the set where the local soapie is shot.

The campaign formed part of our #BoozeFreeRoads theme, as part of our Safely Home Road Safety Calendar, for the months of June and July this year.

Media are invited and welcome to attend. There will be opportunity for photographs and interviews.

Please indicate via email if you will be in attendance.
