Statistician-General to release statistics of perinatal deaths in South Africa

The Statistician-General of South Africa, Dr Pali Lehohla, will release the Perinatal deaths in South Africa, 2015 report at a media briefing to be held on Monday, 31 July 2017. The report provides primary statistics on perinatal deaths that occurred in South Africa during 2015. It also provides statistics on perinatal deaths from 1997 to 2014, to show trends and patterns in the occurrence and registration of perinatal deaths. Statistics on the causes of perinatal deaths, focusing mainly on the underlying causes of death are also provided.

Perinatal deaths are stillbirths and deaths that occur in the first week of life (early neonatal deaths).
