Standing Committee on Appropriations elects new Chairperson
The Standing Committee on Appropriations has unanimously elected Ms Yvonne Phosa as Chairperson of the Committee. Ms Phosa replaces Mr Paul Mashatile who had been appointed as MEC for Human Settlements in Gauteng earlier this year.
Ms Phosa possesses a BA degree in Social Work, a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Certificate in Governance and Leadership. From 2004 to 2009 she served as the Speaker of the Mpumalanga Legislature. She also served as the MEC for Finance from 2009 to 2013, and then became MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism from February 2013 for the Mpumalanga Provincial Government. Before her appointment she was the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training.
