Sport, Arts and Culture on applications for the COVID-19 Sector Relief Fund

Department of Sport, Arts and Culture thanks the sectors for submitting their applications for the COVID-19 Sector Relief Fund

On 25 March 2020, Minister Nathi Mthethwa committed R150 million towards a Relief Fund to assist artists, athletes, technical personnel and its core ecosystem, to soften the economic impact of the COVID – 19 pandemic.

In facilitating the implementation of the Relief Fund, the Department developed a number of instruments to assist all applicants and further loaded all the tools onto various departmental platforms, including social media.

Furthermore, the Department acceded to the public request to extend the deadline for  applications / submissions to 6 April 2020 at 23H59.

By close of deadline, we had received and are currently processing over 6, 000 applications in total. The Department will revert in due course on how the funds will be allocated amongst the sectors.

In light of the above, the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture takes this opportunity to thank all those that have applied for the COVID – 19 Relief Funding and brings it to the attention of the public that this process is now officially closed.

Note that no further applications submitted past the cut-off date and time (6 April 2020 at 23H59) will be considered.
