Speaker Baleka Mbete and Chairperson Thandi Modise welcome Dr László Kövér of Hungary, 10 Mar

Speaker of Hungary lays Wreath at Nelson Mandela Memorial

National Assembly Speaker, Ms Baleka Mbete, and the National Council of Provinces (NPOC) Chairperson, Ms Thandi Modise, will welcome the Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary Dr László Kövér to Parliament for a three-day visit today.

The Speaker of Hungary and his delegation are on an official visit to the Republic of South Africa from 9 to 11 March 2016. The previous visit by a Hungarian Speaker to Parliament occurred in 2002. The Republic of Hungary is a landlocked country in Central Europe which borders no fewer than seven countries: Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Austria.

  • Exchange of gifts with the NA Speaker in the Speaker’s Chamber at 12h10

Dr Kover and his delegation will attend a plenary of the National Assembly today.
