South Africa records festive season setback

South Africa has suffered it's first major festive season setback when two major accidents occured in less than 24 hours.

Eigh people died in a gruesome crash when a truck collided with a motor vehicle on the N1 south of Mokopane near Nyl Plaza in Limpopo on Sunday night.

The exact cause of the accident has not been determined. 

Two other people and 70 were injured when a bus crashed on the M1 in Chatsworth in KwaZulu-Natal early this morning. (Monday 5 December 2016)

The Road Traffic Management Corporation is working with all authorities to investigate these crashes. 

Investigations will look into the conduct of each driver before the accident, the roadworthiness of vehicles, the quality of roads and environmental factors.

Drivers are advised to exercise caution on the roads and show respect to other road users.
