Minister Zulu to table Social Development Portfolio Budget Vote 19 in Parliament, Cape Town
The Minister of Social Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu, will on Tuesday, 30 May, table the Social Development Portfolio Budget Vote 19 for the current financial year, in Parliament, Cape Town.
The budget vote will outline the progress made, commitments and budget allocations for the department and its entities, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) and National Development Agency (NDA). The Minister will also outline plans for the current financial year and the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) period.
This year’s budget vote will be the last one under the sixth democratic government administration, hence, its focus will amongst others, identify the DSD portfolio’s key milestones of the past five years, and achievements thereof.
It is expected that amongst others, the Minister Zulu will present a detailed plan of service delivery initiatives, plans and Social Relief measures for the poor and vulnerable South Africans, including, women and children.
Following the presentation of the Social Development Portfolio budget vote, Minister Zulu will as part of intergenerational dialogue, which seeks to create inspire and build social cohesion among community members, spend quality time with older persons, centenarians, and residents of Langa township.
