Social Development to conduct Know Your NPO Status campaign in various provinces

As part of educating Non-Profit Organisations to comply with the NPO Act requirements, the Department of Social Development will from tomorrow, 14 October, conduct its Know Your NPO Status (KYNS) campaign in various provinces. The campaign, which was launched in 2019, could not be fully implemented in 2020 due to Covid-19 and regulations which minimised movement and gatherings.

The Department is aware that some NPOs were not able to access services due to the Covid-19 restrictions.

It is in this context that the campaign will be revived as part of Social Development Month taking place during October under the theme: “Delivering DSD Services During COVID-19 in the Year of Charlotte Maxeke.”

NPOs registered with the Department of Social Development are required, in terms of the NPO Act, to submit their annual reports, narrative and financial reports to the Department. This applies to all NPOs registered under the NPO Act, whether funded or unfunded.

NPOs are also advised to register and submit their documents online by visiting the NPO website on www.npo.gov.za to submit and upload their annual reports and other documents or by visiting their nearest Social Development offices. The campaign will unfold as follows:
