Small Business Development embarks on stakeholder consultations, 28 Jun

The Department of Small Business Development (DSBD) will host a national stakeholder consultation session on the review of the National Small Business Act, 1996 (Act Number 102 of 1996) on Tuesday, 28 June 2016 in Centurion, Pretoria.
 
Many changes and developments have taken place in the economy which necessitate review of the legislation.  A number of issues have been raised by various practitioners and commentators, which require a review in the law. The department will engage small business stakeholders in the private sector, public sector, cooperatives and small business organisations on the amendment of the National Small Business Act, 1996 (Act Number 102 of 1996), read with the National Small Business Amendment Act, Number 29, 2004.

The department has a responsibility to ensure that the Act is aligned to government objectives and to the mandate of the Department of Small Business Development. Among other things, the consultation session will also reflect on the definition of small business.
