North West Government promotes public engagement through Setsokotsane Operation Centre

Efforts to promote public engagement through Setsokotsane Operation Centre continue

Bokone Bophirima residents will tomorrow, Wednesday 9 November, be once again given the opportunity to speak directly to Members of the Executive Council (MECs) about service delivery issues, through the Setsokotsane Operation Centre.

This platform is aimed at documenting citizens’ complaints, suggestions and compliments in a centralised government database, the data of which will assist the provincial government to not only identify and resolve service delivery challenges, but to also plan for the future.

This week’s direct engagement with the MECs happens at the time when the national government is busy with its Imbizo Focus Week which started yesterday, Monday 7 November, to promote active citizenry through public participation programmes.

This is in line with the National Development Plan’s objective of uniting all South Africans around a common programme to achieve prosperity and equity, as well as promoting active citizenry to strengthen development, democracy and accountability, among others.

Last week, Premier Supra Mahumapelo attributed the reduction of service delivery protests in the Province to the improved dialogue between the provincial government and its community, citing the existence of platforms such as Setsokotsane Operation Centre as well-received systems to facilitate and address service delivery issues.

The Members of Executive Council will take calls from 07h30 until 08h30, and the public is encouraged to make use of this platform.

The centre operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and its toll free number is 0800 111 700.
