The Minister for the Public Service and Administration, Ms Ayanda Dlodlo, will lead over 15 government departments and agencies on a service delivery visit to the community of Zandspruit, Southwest of Johannesburg on Friday, 15 March 2019, as part of the Batho Pele- Putting people first programme.
Zandspruit is a sprawling informal settlement near Roodepoort, comprising of over 15 thousand households.
Minister Dlodlo will, on the day, lead frontline service officials in the rapid rendering of services to the people of Zandspruit.
Members of the community will receive public services and interventions from various departments including Home Affairs, Health, Labour, Water and Sanitation, Provincial Community Safety, Human Settlements, e- Government, City of Johannesburg and government agencies: SASSA, Legal Aid Board. The community will also receive small business development assistance from the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), South African Revenue Services (SARS) and the Gauteng Enterprise Propeller.
The provision of public services will be brought closer to the people of Zandspruit and thus eliminate the financial and time costs which are related to commuting to government office to access public services.
Members of the community will also have the opportunity to engage with the frontline officials from these service delivery institutions and receive first-hand information on how to access public services in a quicker and more efficient manner.
‘Batho Pele- putting people first’ programme is aimed at responding to service delivery challenges experienced by citizens in their communities, it also puts emphasis on making public services more accessible and also serves as a strategic vehicle that enables the government to interact with citizens in its quest to both improve and accelerate public service provision in support of the priorities of government.
