Energy hosts Schools’ Energy Day, 24 Jun

The Department of Energy in partnership with Free State Provincial Department of Basic Education and Dihlabeng Local Municipality will host the School’s Energy Day Event on the 24th June 2016 at Dihlabeng Career Center in Bethlehem.

The Schools Energy Day is a Career Expo programme of the Department of Energy which was established last year, 2015. The purpose of this event is to interact with the youth about the required skills in the Energy sector, career paths to pursue and economic opportunities available within the sector.

The event targets learners who are doing grade 10 – 11 and studying mathematics and science subjects. Government is concerned that skills shortages in the energy sector pose a significant limitation on the country’s long term economic growth potential.

Energy Deputy Minister, Ambassador Thembisile Majola, deliver the key note address at this event.
