Save the Date - Media Workshop
As part of unpacking key and topical issues at National Treasury to the media, National Treasury will host a media workshop on the day before the tabling of the 2020 Budget. The media workshop will be on the Municipal Fiscal Powers and Functions Amendment Bill. The Bill, which seeks to provide a uniform regulation of development charges in municipalities, was released on 8 January for public comment. The workshop will aim to provide more details on the provisions of the Bill, as well as offering media a chance to ask more in-depth questions around the Bill, its objectives, what it hopes to achieve, and what benefits will come from it.
Senior officials from National Treasury will speak and respond to questions at the workshop. Journalists are reminded that senior officials who will address the workshop are not to be quoted by name in any articles, although the information they share at the workshop may be used as background information when journalists write their stories in future.

Venue: Imbizo Media Centre, Parliament (with a video link to GCIS Hatfield)
Time: 14:00 – 15:00
Again, please note that this is not an opportunity for interviews nor is it a briefing on what will be presented in the Budget the following day.
