Chairperson Thandi Modise heads to Poland and Russia for bilateral meetings

The Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), Ms Thandi Modise, yesterday 20 September 2016, departed for the Republic of Poland and the Russian Federation for bilateral visits, on the invitation of her counterparts in the parliaments of both countries.

The visits aim to:

1. Promote the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the interests of strengthening ties between the Houses of Parliament.
2. Mainstream cooperation in establishing ties at the level of parliamentary Committees of both Parliaments.

The Chairperson will also have various bilateral engagements with the leadership of the parliamentary Houses and with members of the executive in Russia.
