Road Traffic Management Corporation sends condolences to Khoza family

RTMC sends condolences on death of Member of Parliament

It is with great sadness that we learned of the untimely death of one of our Members of Parliament (MP) due to a traffic crash in the early hours of the morning.

The African National Congress (ANC) has confirmed that its member of parliament Timothy Khoza passed away in the crash on the Western Cape and three other MPs were injured.

The three injured have been identified as Nomalungelo Gina of the African National Congress, Ian Ollis of the Democratic Alliance and Cynthia Majeke of the United Democratic Movement.

This unfortunate event happened when members of the Portfolio Committee on Education were on their way to perform oversight responsibilities in Paarl.

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) crash investigating team will work with other law enforcement authorities to investigate and establish the root cause of the crash.

We urge people not to speculate but to allow the investigating team to execute their responsibility without fear, prejudice and bias.

Road crashes are a socio-economic problems that affects us as individuals and as society. As the country we have been robbed off one of the hard working and committed servant of the people.  At this moment we find it befitting and appropriate to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, parliament and the respective political parties, in particular the party affected by the loss of one of their own.

This is another reminder that we all need to roll our sleeves and redouble our efforts to reduce road deaths in the country. Road safety is everybody’s responsibility.

Further details on this matter will be handled by family, parliament and the political party.
