President Jacob Zuma declares Special Official Funeral for late Riot Mkhwanazi

President Jacob Zuma has declared a Special Provincial Official Funeral for the late renowned struggle veteran and the recipient of The Order of Mendi for bravery, Mr Riot Mkhwanazi, who passed away on Sunday, 4 December 2016.
 
Mr Mkhwanazi was bestowed with the National Order for his excellent and vibrant contribution to the liberation of the people of South Africa. In 1963, he and President Zuma were arrested and both served 10 years imprisonment on Robben Island.
 
President Zuma has ordered that the National Flag be flown at half-mast at every flag station in the KwaZulu Natal Province on the day of the funeral, 11 December 2016.
 
President Zuma has once again conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Mkhwanazi family.
 
Details of the funeral will be communicated by the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government.
