Public Service and Administration launches Public Service Month, 2 Sept

The Director-General of the Department of Public Service and Administration, Mr Mashwahle Diphofa together with the Northern Cape Provincial Government will launch the Public Service Month in Kimberly, in the Sol Plaatjie Municipality this Friday, 2 September 2016.

The launch will set off of a series of activities earmarked to celebrate the annual public service programme across the country from 1 to 30 September under the theme: Together Moving the Public Service Forward: “We Belong, We Care, We Serve”.

The focus of this year’s Public Service Month will be about demonstrating the values of Batho Pele- a notion which demands that public servants put people first- through programmes that visibly portray a positive attitude.

During the launch, the Director- General is expected to interact with frontline public servants from all three spheres of government’ service delivery points about the status of service delivery and what should be done to enable them to do their work better, faster and smarter in line with the Batho Pele Principles. Mr Diphofa will also use the opportunity to provide feedback on issues raised during the previous engagements with frontline officials.

The September month was identified by government to recognise public servants who follow the “Batho Pele” principles which require them to be polite, open and transparent and to deliver good service to the public and to serve as an opportunity to highlight service delivery improvement initiatives across the public service.
