Gauteng Legislature holds service delivery public hearings in Alexandra, 31 Mar to 1 Apr

Petitions Committee to host two days Public Hearings

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Standing Committee on Petitions, chaired by Honourable Refilwe Mogale will convene public hearings over two days aimed at resolving service delivery concerns raised by various communities in Alexandra and surrounding areas through petitions.

Petitions for hearing on the days include: Improper RDP House Allocation in Drieziek; Tarring of Roads in Drieziek Ext 5; Sewerage system in Drieziek Ext 5; Lack of service delivery in Dark city Poortjie; as well as Call for Restoration for Good Governance and By-laws Request for Development in Poortjie.

Citizens of Alexandra and surrounding areas have been invited to form part of one of the most effective and peaceful means of resolving community concerns, grievances and requests without resorting to violent demonstrations.

Community members are also encouraged to submit petitions / grievances /complaints in writing on the day of the petitions hearing as there will be a table setup outside for this purpose.

Members of the media are welcome to cover the 2 day public hearings.

The 2-day Petitions Public Hearings is scheduled to take place as follows:

Time: 14h00 on Friday – 9h00 on Saturday
Venue: East Bank Hall, Alexandra
