Together moving South Africa forward: Launch of the mobile health collaboration between Eskom and Transnet

On 11 August 2016, the Deputy Minister of Public Enterprises, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Communications and KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Health; will launch a collaboration between the Phelophepa Train and Bophelong Bus.

Phelophepa Train is a Transnet CSI programme which aims to deliver quality healthcare to disadvantaged communities through on-board state of the art medical equipment; and serving  about 360 000 patients on an annual basis.

Similarly, Eskom’s Bophelong Bus provides mobile healthcare services to schools located in rural communities.

The above mentioned collaborative launch follows a pilot project in which the two State Owned Companies shared similar routes in their mobile health offering. The launch programme will also include a public participation (Imbizo) with the Ladysmith community.
