MEC Nomafrench Mbombo showcases Provincial Strategic Goal 3 Projects, 2 Sept

Tomorrow, 2 September 2016, the Western Cape MEC of Health, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, will visit the Drakenstein Municipality to view the progress made on the implementation of Western Cape Government’s Provincial Strategic Goal 3 Projects which aim to Increase wellness, safety and tackle social ills within communities.

The area of Drakenstein, has served as the Western Cape Government’s pilot site for an integrated service delivery model by a number of government departments.

The MEC’s visit will showcase the following projects:

  • Western Cape on Wellness (WOW!) – an initiative which promotes a healthy lifestyle movement across worksites, primary healthcare facilities, schools, communities and public spaces;
  • First 1000 Days – a project which promotes a society wide approach to improving the wellness of children in their First 1000 days of life;
  • Department of Community Safety Improvement Plan (D-CSIP) – an initiative showcasing government’s efforts towards building safer communities throughout the province; and
  • Teachable Moments – a project which aims to increase road safety by positively modifying road use behaviour and reducing alcohol harms on our roads.
