The MEC for Department of Transport; Safety, Security and Liaison, Mme Mapula Mokaba-Phukwana will on Friday hold the Provincial Community Policing Forum (CPF) Board Inauguration.
Community Policing Forum has been legislated through SAPS Act 68 of 1995 as the only recognised consultative forum designed to permit communities to make their policing concerns known to the police. It is a tool aimed at closing the gap and harmonise relations between community and police in the fight against crime.
Furthermore, through CPF government attempts to harmonise and improve the relations between police officers and the communities they are serving. CPFs work hand-in-hand with police and traffic officers to fight crime whenever it manifests.
In the main, the aim of the CPF is to promote accountability of the police and to enlist the cooperation of communities with the SAPS to reduce crime and improve service delivery. The government’s goal of social cohesion and nation building has everything to do with ensuring that there is peace, love and harmony across the communities.
