Reconciliation and community integration dialogue planned for protest-weary Kopela
The North West Provincial Government will this week convene a reconciliation and community integration dialogue in Kopela village near Mahikeng in the North West, following violent protests in the area last year.
Public properties were destroyed during service delivery protests late last year when residents in the area burnt down three schools and a clinic.
Now, the provincial government, through its Reconciliation, Healing and Renewal unit, will bring members of the community together to talk about the issue and reconcile in line with the province’s Reconciliation, Healing and Renewal initiative which was launched in Marikana in 2014.
The Kopela reconciliation and community integration dialogue has been planned as follows:
Date: Friday, 2 December 2016
Time: 15h00
Venue: Kopela Tribal Hall
Members of the media are cordially invited to cover the launch.
