President Jacob Zuma conveys condolences on the passing of liberation stalwart Mr Indres Naidoo

President Jacob Zuma wishes to convey his heartfelt condolences on the sad passing of one of the first combatants of uMkhonto WeSizwe (MK), stalwart of the liberation struggle and recipient of the National Order of Mendi for Bravery, Mr Indres Naidoo, who passed away last night at the 2 Military Hospital in Cape Town.

He was one of the first MK operatives to go into action and one of the first to be jailed. Mr Naidoo was awarded the Order of Mendi by President Zuma in 2014.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Naidoo family and his comrades in the liberation struggle at the moment. Indres Naidoo will be remembered for his fearlessness in the face of the most brutal of oppressive systems. We wish to convey our heartfelt condolences on his sad passing and may his soul rest in peace,” said President Zuma.
