President Jacob Zuma conveys condolences to Mtirara Royal Family

President Jacob Zuma has conveyed his heartfelt condolences on the passing of Ms Nozolile Mtirara, the 94 year-old widow of former President Nelson Mandela’s late cousin, Chief Justice Zwelivumile Mtirara.

Chief Justice Mtirara, the son of the regent king of AbaThembu Chief Jongintaba Mtirara, raised the world icon President Mandela as a son at Mqhekezweni Great Place in Mthatha, in the Eastern Cape, following the passing of Madiba’s father, Chief Mphakanyiswa Mandela.

“South Africa has lost another key and highly regarded member of Madiba’s generation. On behalf of government and all South Africans, we convey our deepest condolences to Makhulu Mtirara’s family, relatives and the AbaThembu people at large. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” said President Zuma.
