President Jacob Zuma attends Extraordinary Summit of International Conference on Great Lakes Region, 18 May

The President of the Republic of South Africa, His Excellency Mr Jacob Zuma, is scheduled to attend the Extraordinary Summit of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), which will take place in Luanda, Republic of Angola, on 18 May 2015.

President Zuma’s participation at the Extraordinary Summit will be at the invitation of his Angolan counterpart, His Excellency Eduardo dos Santos, who serves as Chairperson of the ICGLR. South Africa has an observer status at the ICGLR.

The Extraordinary Summit is expected to consider the prevailing security situation in the Great Lakes Region, in particular the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Central African Republic and the Republic of South Sudan.

President Zuma will be accompanied by the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane.
