The Presidency on racism in South Africa

Racism is an issue in South Africa

The Independent Newspapers group has distorted what President Jacob Zuma said about racism over the weekend and this morning’s titles erroneously state that the President said racism was not an issue in South Africa.

The President stated that South Africa had addressed institutionalised racism since 1994 and that the problem that remained was that of individuals who still harboured racism and prejudice.

He emphasised that all should be done to eradicate racism in society and that there should be consequences for racism.

South Africa continues the task of building a non-racial society.
