North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo says the sentencing of the man dubbed “the hammer man” to three life terms will send a strong message to perpetrators of sexual offence.
Solomon Bigboy Moleko, 35, was given three life sentences in the Mmabatho High Court yesterday for four counts of rape and 60 years for three counts of robbery and two counts of attempted murder.
“We congratulate our law enforcement agencies for bringing the culprit to book. The stiff sentence should send a strong message to perpetrators that their evil deeds will not go unpunished. With the perpetrator effectively behind bars, we hope our people can now go on with their lives knowing that they are safe,” said Mahumapelo.
Moleko, notoriously known as “The Hammer man” was arrested in 2013 for terrorising communities in and around Mahikeng by raping and bludgeoning women with a hammer.
