Premier Chupu Mathabatha addresses Provincial World Aids Day Commemoration, 1 Dec

The Premier of Limpopo Mr Chupu Stanley Mathabatha, as the Chairperson of Limpopo Provincial Aids Council and MEC responsible for Health Dr Phophi Ramathuba invite members of the media to join them in the commemoration of World AIDS Day on the 1st December 2017.

Every year on the 1st of December, an opportunity is created for communities to unite in the fight against HIV; to show support for people living with HIV and remember those who have died due to HIV infection.

This year World AIDS Day is commemorated under the theme, “It is my right to know my status: Prevention is my responsibility”. The theme encourages us to make our actions count and take personal and collective responsibility to prevent new HIV and TB infections in Limpopo and South Africa as a whole.

Waterberg District is one of the areas that have the highest HIV infection in the province. The Province has chosen this area as a way to raise awareness about this pandemic that has killed our fellow brothers and sisters.
