As at 1pm on 20 September 2021, the Western Cape had 12 711 active COVID-19 infections, with a total number 515 625 COVID-19 cases to date and 483 390 recoveries.

By 5pm on 19 September 2021, the Western Cape Government had administered a cumulative total of 2 641 449 vaccines to healthcare workers, staff in the education sector and those within eligible age brackets

The current 7-day moving average is 52 deaths per day.

Over 2 million people have already registered to get vaccinated  

Over 2 million people have already registered for their COVID-19 vaccine. This is now 41% of the adult population, with the figure growing daily.  

Of the total adult population in the province: 

  • 499 132 or 69.4% of those 60 years and older are registered. Of those registered, 93.3% have received at least one dose of their vaccine.
  • 360 447 or 52.8 % of those between 50 -59 years are registered. Of those registered, 96.8% have received at least one dose of their vaccine.
  • 654 567 or 43.3% of those between 35 – 49 years are registered. Of those registered, 87.2% have received at least one dose of their vaccine.
  • 509 900 or 24.9 % of those between 18 -34 years are registered. Of those registered, 75.8% have received at least one dose of their vaccine.
     

In the Western Cape, 37.12% of the total adult population have received at least one dose of their vaccine to date. Of which:  

  • 66.5% are 60 years and older;
  • 51.7% are between 50 – 59 years old;
  • 37.9% are between 35 – 49 years old; and 
  • 18.8% are between 18-34 years old.
     

It has never been quicker and easier to get vaccinated, and you can simply register at the site when you walk-in.  

Our data is already showing that vaccines are highly effective in saving lives in the Western Cape. That is why we encourage you to take-up your vaccination opportunity as soon as possible.
