Premier Ace Magashule on Lesotho 50th anniversary of independence

Free State Premier on Lesotho Independence celebrations for 2016

Free State Premier, Hon. Ace Magashule, sends well wishes to the people of Lesotho on their 50th anniversary of independence;

Lesotho, a mountainous country which is completely landlocked by the Republic of South Africa, shares a special history with the Free State province in particular. The people of the Mountain Kingdom, as Lesotho is affectionately called, have strong brother-and-sister relations with the people of South Africa;

Following the death of King Moshoeshoe I, founder of the Basotho nation, in 1871, Lesotho was embroiled in a bitter period of colonisation;

After a sustained battle against colonisation, the Basotho nation finally gained independence on the 04th of October 1966;

“We wish the King, Morena Letsie III, Prime Minister Pakalitha Mosisili, and the entire Basotho nation well on their Independence Day celebration. Pula! Nala!” – Premier Magashule said;

A delegation led by the following Members of the Executive Council, Hon. Dr. Benny Malakoane, Hon. Mathabo Leeto and Hon. Butana Komphela  joined the Basotho in their celebrations .
