SAPS to launch the Traditional Policing Concept in Eastern Cape

The Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, the National Commissioner of the South African Police Service, General Khehla John Sitole and the Traditional Leaders in the Eastern Cape will on Friday, 7 December 2018 launch the Traditional Policing Concept at Nqadu Great Place, Willowvale.

The Traditional Policing Concept seeks to operationalise the partnership in policing within the traditionally led communities. This concept was developed following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the SAPS and various stakeholders, including the Provincial House of Traditional Leaders and the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs.

The event is scheduled to take place in three phases, starting at Idutywa where the Minister of Police and the National Commissioner will conduct a walkabout and distribute information products at Idutywa entrance and exit points as follows:

The second phase of the event will be the formal proceedings to launch the Traditional Policing Concept scheduled to take place as follows:

Date: Friday, 7 December 2018
Time: 09:30 for 10:00
Venue: Nqadu Great Place (Kingdom of Ama-Xhosa), Willowvale

Immediately after the conclusion of the formal proceedings, the last phase will be an official opening of SAPS Contact Centre at Nqadu Great Place.
