Police launch Back to Basics approach to policing, 21 Oct

The South African Police Service’s (SAPS) Acting National Commissioner, Lieutenant General JK Phahlane cordially invites the media to the national launch of Back to Basics Approach to Policing on Friday, 21 October 2016.

Key focus areas for the Back to Basics approach to policing are to enhance police visibility, ensure efficient utilisation of resources in support of the investigation of crime, embark on informed deployment of operational resources and the optimal utilisation of crime intelligence in support of proactive and reactive policing.

The SAPS has since embarked on the implementation of Back to Basics approach to policing since the beginning of 2016. The launch will also give prominence to Employee Health and Wellness (EHW) as well as available sporting codes in the SAPS as key contributors to productivity in the organisation.

The launch will unfold as follows:

Phase 1: Fun walk
Time: 5h00
Venue: From Pilditch stadium, Maltzan street, Pretoria West to SAPS Tshwane Academy, Rebecca street, Pretoria West.

Phase 2: Official proceedings
Time: 8h30 to 9h30
Venue: SAPS Tshwane Academy, Rebecca street, Pretoria West.

Phase 3: Wellness and fitness program
Time: 10h00 to 13h00
Venue: SAPS Tshwane Academy, Rebecca street, Pretoria West.
