Limpopo Education on strengthening Section 18 team of PFMA

PFMA Section 18 Team strengthened

Effective today, the department welcomes the services of Mr P. Khunou, as the Chief Financial Officer as part of strengthening the Section 18 team of the PFMA.  Mr K. Mashaba who has been the CFO in the department has been assigned new responsibilities at the Provincial Treasury with effect from today.

Mr Khunou has been with the Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs and has been roped in to ensure that the financial management and the audit outcomes of the department are improved. He will work very closely with the Section 18 team in addressing pertinent issues, among others, financial management, asset management, supply chain management, as well as risk management.

These are issues that the department has struggled to address over the years and has led to the department being disclaimed for the past four years.

Following the recent retirement of Deputy Director General of Ms C. Makondo, who was responsible for Institutional Governance and District Coordination, the department has assigned Deputy Director General Ms. O. Dederen, who was responsible for Curriculum Development, to strengthen district coordination and support to improve learner performance.

Mr L Kgomo, a Chief Director responsible for General Education And Training (GET) Curriculum, has been appointed on an acting capacity in the position vacated by Ms Dederen.

The department welcomes these changes as it creates great opportunities for improved financial management, learner performance and good governance within the department.

We wish all the incumbents well in their new responsibilities.
