Gauteng launches June 16 commemoration, 7 Jun

Official launch of the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of June 16 uprising

The Gauteng Provincial Government will on Tuesday, 7 June, launch the Provincial Youth Month Programme at Uncle Toms, Orlando West.  As part of the build-up to the main event to commemorate the 40th anniversary of June 16 students uprising, the Province will host the national youth day rally to be addressed by President Jacob Zuma at Orlando Stadium.

The Gauteng Provincial Government will also host the second Gauteng Career, Jobs and Entrepreneurship Expo at Nasrec, Johannesburg from 10 - 19 June 2016. This year’s provincial theme is: “40 years on, Youth Moving the Gauteng City Region forward”.

Over 40 000 learners from Grade 10 to Grade 12, out-of-school and unemployed youth and graduates are expected to join government over 10 days to gain insight into live simulation of various available career opportunities through seminars, dialogues and workshops.

MEC for Education, Panyaza Lesufi on behalf of Gauteng Premier David Makhura will launch the Youth Month activities.
