Office of Minister Radebe Refutes Kevin Malunga as his previous Special Advisor and speech writer
The office of the Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation and Chairperson of the National Planning Commission, Jeff Radebe and the Ministry of Justice and Correctional Services refute claims made during the interview of Deputy Public Protector, Adv Kevin Malunga for the position of Public Protector.The interview was carried live on national television on the 11thAugust 2016.
During the interview process, the portfolio committee member, Phumzile Van Damme remarked that Adv Malunga was advisor and speech writer to Minister Radebe.
The office of Minister Radebe refute the statement or any inference made that Adv Malunga served as adviser to Minister Radebe or wrote any speeches for the Minister in any capacity.
The Ministry of Justice and Correctional Services confirmed that Adv Malunga has never worked in the office of Minister Radebe or had any dealings with the Ministry during his short stint as researcher in the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development.
He was appointed as researcher in the Office of the Chief Justice on contract in 2010 and was part of the initial staff complement that provided administrative support the newly established office of the Chief Justice.
He was transferred to the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development on 1st May 2012 as researcher in the Policy Development Branch of the Department. He was subsequently seconded to the Marikana Commission of Inquiry in October 2012 as the Commission’s Spokesperson.
