North West conducts public engagement through Setsokotsane Operation Centre

NWest government sustaining public participation through Setsokotsane Operation Centre

North West Members of Executive Council (MECs) will as part of their monthly public participation and engagement programme, take calls from members of the public through the provincial Setsokotsane Operation Centre on Wednesday, 14 June 2017, from 7h30 until 8h30 in the morning.

The one-hour long telephonic engagement with communities seeks to unblock service delivery challenges, while at the same allowing residents the opportunity to make suggestions and comments aimed at realising the vision of rebranding, repositioning and renewal of the province.

The Executive Council had last year resolved to promote active citizenry and strengthen development, democracy and accountability by ensuring that MECs set aside an hour, every second Wednesday of the month, to take calls from members of the public through the Setsokotsane Operation Centre.

Since its launch last year, the Setsokotsane Operation Centre has recorded a high volume of calls, with issues ranging from shortage of water supply, misallocation of Breaking New Grounding housing, to requests for registration on the unemployment database.

To this end, members of the community have embraced this initiative and lauded it as a responsive platform to facilitate and address service delivery issues.

Members of the public are encouraged to take advantage of this platform, and make calls using the Setsokotsane Operation Centre toll free number of 0800 111 700.

The Centre operates 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
