North West MEC for Tourism Desbo Mohono has called on her departmental officials to refuel their energy in making sure that they achieve their mandate and ensures that tourism shines as a department. The call was made during a two day departmental mid-term performance review session that was held in Rio Casino Hotel in Klerksdorp.
According to MEC Mohono, the session has to give meaning and make sure that the departmental plans are in line with intentions and form the basis for evaluating and reporting performance the department strives to inculcate professionalism and excellence in service delivery related issues. She said that such gestures allows the department to evaluate itself and get guidance in making sure that its on the correct path,” said MEC Mohono.
She further outlined some of the departmental priorities, which she called on senior officials to fast track. “First on our list has and will always be to finalise the three departmental strategies namely the Provincial Sector Tourism Strategy, Provincial Heritage and Cultural Tourism Strategy and finally the Provincial Events Tourism Strategy. Our objectives and activities have to be formulated under each and every strategic goal and its interpretation will contribute immensely in transforming the Department of Tourism into a centre of excellence within the sector and that will result in our mandate been pushed to the limits. ”, Mohono said.
In further encouraging officials MEC Mohono said that the session will further give impetus denotation and delineate the vision, mission and the core values that the Department of Tourism will pursue in going forward. Despite all the challenges MEC Mohono appreciated efforts taken in driving the business of the department forward, further called for compliance and adherence to policy and regulations governing public service.
